Are You Ready to Commit… to a New Hair Colour?

Kylie Jenner does it often. So does Ariana Grande. Even Zendaya does it frequently. We’re talking about dyeing their hair. If you’re thinking of taking the plunge and getting your hair coloured - whether for the first time or if you’re looking for a new look - there’s a few things you should first consider.

At Linea of the Yarra Valley, we’re all qualified hair colourists with years of experience. So, we know a thing or two about the latest colouring techniques and how to keep your hair healthy and vibrant.

Are you ready to take the plunge? Ask yourself these four questions below.

  • What is the current condition of your hair?

  • The condition of your hair will always take top priority over anything else.  Why? Well, our promise to you is to achieve beautiful, shiny hair - regardless of colour. We don’t want you to end up with a poor colour result that causes breakage and split ends.

  • When would you like to achieve your new colour?

  • Let’s get one thing out of the way: we’re hairdressers, not magicians. That means we can’t turn you from a brunette into a platinum blonde in under two hours and only for $200. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s just not achievable. We would rather be honest with you from the start, and manage your expectations. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to hair dye.

  • What is your budget?

  • Following from the previous question, good hair care costs time, effort, and - yes - money. Talk to us about what you feel comfortable spending, and we’ll try to find a solution that helps you achieve the look you want. Balayage is different to permanent full hair colour, as is semi-permanent hair dye to colour correction.

  • What colour best suits your skin tone and lifestyle?

  • Are you a natural brunette and love the look of platinum blonde but live a very busy lifestyle? You may not have time to really take care of your hair, as it will involve lots of at-home treatments and maintenance to keep it from becoming dry. As for skin tone, the general rule is that cool skin undertones best suit cool hair colour, and warm skin undertones match warm hair colour.
